We believe in 21st Century Management. Since 1975, there has been a revolution in management thought and practice. Amidst all this change many trends have naturally proved ephemeral, but much of the new ideas have been essential and enduring. Moreover, as in all fields of knowledge, new developments are arising with "Internet speed". So you have to keep up; there is no future in this century for those who look backwards.

We believe in 21st Century Management Consulting. Consultation methods and techniques have changed, too. New ones appear continually. You don't have time to keep up with and evaluate all of them; that's our job. While we can and will work under 20th century consultation models, we will do our best to make you 21st century minded. Basically, that means we respect your knowledge of your business and, instead of telling you what do to do, help you to make decisions and to keep improving.

We believe in Organizational Development. OD is premised on the fact that organizations and their members must find mutual solutions to problems and ways to grow together. Not everyone shares this outlook, and not all managers are familiar with this territory. If you look upon the members of your organization as vassals or peons, you probably want another consultant. But if you recognize that people problems are just as significant as other business issues, then you are in the right place.

We believe in 21st Century Organizational Development. OD has a tradition, history and development of many decades. But like all fields it will undergo change in this century. We keep abreast of all that is happening, the merely trendy and the truly significant. And we help you implement the latter.

We believe in 21st Century Organizational Development Consulting. Frankly, some of the more touchy-feely manifestations of OD are not much to our taste. They have value in some contexts, but they are not appropriate to all organizations. If you wish to move your employees to a higher spiritual plane or want to replace staff conferences with transcendental meditation, there are probably other consultants more suited to your needs. But if you are looking for the best of contemporary realistic people-oriented management practices, we are what you want.

We believe in 21st Century Change Management. Attitudes toward change need to adapt to the new forms of management that are needed in today's work environment. Campaigns that "sell" change have shown that they don't work; instead, a capacity for continual change has to exist in the organization. If you have a change project, we would be glad to help you make it succeed - and to guide you to ways in which in which you can implement change without having to hire a consultant every time!

We believe in Process Consultation. The process consultation model is "highest and best". It most accords with the partnership style that characterizes 21st century management. While we can work with you in other ways, we will try to move you in the direction of this way of thinking, i.e., to help you solve your problems and not to tell you what to do. The result is that your organization will build up its own internal consulting and facilitation capacity (and will end "consultant dependency").

We believe in Dialogue. Increasing the dialogic nature of business communication is one of the most productive goals that any organization can set for itself. In the post-September 11 environment, one of the best things organizations can do is to hold regular dialogue sessions as to how people are feeling. Dialogue is the most powerful tool that can be used to promote morale and team spirit and to uncover possibilities and needs.

Most of all, we believe that models and practices have to change with the times. Newer is not necessarily better; but 21st century conditions are significantly different from 20th century conditions, and new outlooks and approaches are essential. There are, for instance, also 21st Century standards for Supervision and for Leadership.

We also believe that work should be fun and that having a sense of humor is important for every manager. If you want the lives of your workers to be pain and drudgery – perhaps you ought to check out some of the items in our Free Stuff section to see that there are alternatives. If you've banned Dilbert from your company library, you are missing out on an important information source. If you'd like to replace your employees with computers or robots, you really are on the one page - try one of those large consulting companies that used to do accounting.
